Artists in the City, is a Reading Borough Council project managed by Reading Arts and Venues. The programme creates opportunities for artists to enhance the vitality of the city centre, paying particular attention to new developments. Artists are drawn from the contemporary visual arts field and where appropriate embrace an interest in sound and new technology, reflecting Reading's reputation for music festivals and the high-tech skills base in the region.

The database driven website parallels Artists in the City's aims by including audio, video and features a specially commissioned downloadable screensaver by Luke McKeown.
